Skilled clerking professionals wanted, with options to provide support remotely.

We are always looking for people with the right skills and attributes to join our established school governing board clerking service supporting school and trust boards predominantly  but not exclusively across the South East of England.  While the role has traditionally  required travel to schools and for some meetings will continue to do so, an increasing number of those we already support and who have expressed an interest in buying into our service are open to our virtual attendance even as Covid restriction has passed.

Hours are variable dependent on governing board needs. and rates start at £20  per hour for those with experience  Those without  previous governing board clerking experience but requisite skills  may be invited to start on a reduced rate of £15ph rising to £20 as competence is demonstrated.   While not guaranteed, we  have traditionally been able to pay a small end of year bonus and offer free use of a Spanish holiday home to clerking professional colleagues (subject to some conditions and  availability)

Prior experience as a governing board clerking professional, school governor or trustee, company secretary, working in a school office or similar experience would be very advantageous.  This role also seems to suit those with an HR or legal secretarial background well.

· Attend those meetings and take notes, which you will turn into professionally presented minutes within an agreed timescale

You will need  access to a computer and printer and are responsible for your own travel arrangements to meetings where that is necessary.  ( You are not expected to travel to schools miles away from your location!)  Other than attendance at governing board meetings (which are usually, though not always in the late afternoon/evening and between one and a half and two and a half hours in length) you will have the flexibility to organise your own time, provided an appropriate quality of service and any deadlines are met.

The role is subject to provision of a satisfactory DBS certificate to establish your suitability to work in a school setting.

You are responsible for developing and maintaining your own knowledge and skills to meet the demands of the role, however we co-ordinate access to a range of resources, training and advice, including an initial familiarisation and regular networking opportunities with other associate colleagues to support you in providing a quality service.

Recent feedback about our service

Steve Warren, Academy Business Director at St Nicolas School, Bucks (December 23)

''We were unfortunate to have to need an Independent Review Panel for a recent permanent exclusion after the parent appealed. This led us to need professional outside assistance to arrange and run what would be our first ever IRP. Governance-Connected were professional from the outset, they reassured us that that they would deal with all aspects of the IRP up to and including the sourcing of panel members. They provided a clear SLA from the outset which was extremely cost effective when compared to other offerings. They managed the process effectively throughout taking all the stress away from the school. I would highly recommend Governance-Connected to any schools in the event they too need and IRP arranging quickly and correctly.'''

Governance Connected have undertaken a couple of independent reviews for our Trust recently. With the increase in requests for these panels it has been imperative to find a quality provider to ensure a fair and legal process for families and school.

Governance Connected provides a comprehensive and complete service. From administration of the letters and documents, appointment of the independent panel members and arranging and clerking the hearing they take control of the whole process.  The panel members are experts in their fields and provide thorough challenge and review of the permanent exclusion hearing. The clerks supporting and coordinating the process are very professional and the quality of their work is to an excellent standard.

As a governance manager it is imperative to know that these meetings are being undertaken professionally with fairness and transparency for all parties.  Governance Connected deliver a quality service with confidence.

The process of arranging an IRP can be a very difficult, and the need for professional and independent clerking in line with the guidance is critical.  Governance Connected were excellent, the service they provided was exactly that, professional, efficient and compliant. The communication was great, the pack that was provided was well organised and referenced, and the panel members were knowledgeable and effective in their roles. Should we need IRP clerking services again we will not be looking elsewhere.’
